Staff & Residents Welcome Gemstone’s first Volunteer and Community Coordinator!
Gemstone Care Centre is pleased to welcome Stacey Baker to the newly developed position of Volunteer and Community Coordinator. “We continuously look for ways to enhance the quality of life at Gemstone,” says Mary McDougall, President, “and we’re excited by how this position will support social connections for residents and the broader Kamloops community”. Sandra Lewis, General Manager, adds that “we’re particularly proud to make this announcement during National Volunteer Week as we celebrate the many volunteers already involved with us”.
Stacey began her 10-year career as a certified Care Aide and Recreation Therapy Assistant after her children started school. A resident of Kamloops for nearly five years, she is not only passionate about working with volunteers, she is also an active volunteer within the Kamloops community, including Boogie the Bridge, and she is open to exciting opportunities.
Stacey loves spending time with her family and enjoys being in nature when hiking, skiing and running. When asked how spending time in nature influences her work with seniors, Stacey admits “that recreation at all ages is tremendously beneficial to our health and helps to keep us connected to the environment and to community.”
